India tapped her foot on the Subway floor, keeping time with the music that was playing through her headphones at the moment. She didn't normally come to Subway; she didn't really like subs, but she'd had a craving for one, so here she stands. She was pretty much oblivious to everything around her at the moment; all she was focused on was the music. The line had only four people in it; India and three people infront of her, but that was still a bit too long for her liking. She wasn't very patient, and she hated waiting around for anything. India glanced around the tiny shop, watching as people talked, chatted, and others just sat there in their own world. People littered the tables outside, the same thing going on outside. She didn't like to eat ouside because all the bugs came around, like ants and flies, and it was just gross. Even though you got flies inside most of the time, too, she still preferred it. She spotted a familiar head, though, Jared. India hadn't expected to run into anyone she knew; usually she was pretty good at avoiding them (not like she did it intentionally). This brought a smile to her face, even if he didn't look too happy. They annoyed eachother quite frequently, but they were still on good terms."Ma'am?" an impatient voice called out. She looked at the lady behind the counter, who was motioning for her to come and make her order. She turned off the music and pulled her headphones off her head, and moved up to the counter. She ordered a pizza sub on wheat bread. The line was oddly empty, and she couldn't help but wonder about how long she'd been daydreaming. Knowing her, it was probably quite awhile. She moved down to the register and pulled out a ten, handing it over to the man at the register, also ordering a coke. He handed back her change and a cup, motioning towards the station with all the drinks and other stuff. She grabbed the sub, now very warm, and made her way over. She filled the cup almost to the brim, snapping a cap on it and grabbing a straw. India made her way over to where Jared was sitting, and smiled sweetly at him. She sat down without invitiation opposite of him, setting her own food down on the table. "Hi," she said.
ooc; I SHALL ARR PEE WITH CHOOO!

Jared joked, seeing as India had already sat down. He took another drink from his coke, only to realize he'd finished it. Making a face he reached over and picked up India's coke. "This will rot your teeth, y'know," Jared told her. "As your friend, I feel I have a responsibility toward you and your teeth and their health," he told her with a smirk as he took a drink of the coke and put it back down again. Jared didn't mind the company, infact, he was enjoying it. It was a lot better than sitting in Subway looking like an utter loner. Jared loved being around people, he loved making friends and talking with people. He just liked being social, but there were times when he would accidentally cut himself off from everyone and not really notice it. This was one of those times, so he was glad that India had sat down without an invitation, otherwise he might have sent her away and he would have sat in Subway eating a sandwich by himself. That would have been no fun at all. Right now, Jared felt guilty for every bit of social interaction he had. He didn't feel like people around him should be plagued by him, as if he wasn't worthy to be around them. However, he was brightening up a little now India had arrived - someone he could tease.[/blockquote][/ul]

"I shall, and in the meantime I see you'll steal my coke," India said, watching as he took a drink of it. She didn't really mind, she wasn't fond of soda anyway, but it was something to drink. She unwrapped the sandwich and took a bite, not caring it was really still too hot, she was hungry. She needed to get groceries, but she hated shopping for that stuff more then anything, so she usually suffered on what she had left until she totally ran out. "Rot my teeth, hm? Well, I wouldn't want you to ruin your pearly whites," India joked. It was odd; one minute they could be at eachothers throat, then the next just joking around and being civilized. It was quite a thing to see, but India had grown used to it. She knew Jared would most likely just sit there and tease her, but she'd just tease him too, so it was pretty much even. What he said to her never bothered her much, even when they were ticked at eachother. Would it be anyone else, she'd be very, very hurt, but somehow that didn't happen with Jared. He just wasn't important enough to hurt her feelings, so ha.

Jared joked, picking at his sandwich. He picked out another olive, ate it and whiped his hands on the napkin. He glanced up at India, and then down at the table again. He didn't usually talk to people about problems, and if he did then India would usually be bottom of that list. He didn't want to talk to her about his problems - that would just give her ammunition to use against him during arguments, whether it was intended to hurt or not. However, right now Jared had been wallowing in his own self pity for far too long, and this time thought he'd cut India some slack, and he sighed, doing up his bright yellow hoodie. The hoodie was perhaps one of Jared's favorites - it had been made for him by a friend of his father's several years ago. It was a bright yellow hoodie with black bats on the front, and several more on the back. On the inside on one side was a black heart, and on the other side was a smiley face. It was one of those pieces that Jared absolutely adored, because it was so bright and kooky and unusual. "Ind... I have a problem... shock, shock, horror, horror... and don't say 'yeah, I know, you're a twat' or anything like that. I know there's no answer to that problem," Jared joked with a smile. "I know a secret... and it's something that Derry should know but not from me, and the people who should be telling him aren't telling him," Jared said. 'What are you doing? You're an idiot. Shut up now,' Jared said to himself, and he knew instantly he shouldn't have been telling India this - he shouldn't be burdening her or anyone else in the world with problems that were purely his own. "Y'know, forget it, whatever," Jared said. "I'm having a huge rave party down at The Live House in a few days, interested in coming?" Jared asked. "There's a few bands playing, I can get you a backstage pass if you want to play groupie for the night."[/blockquote][/ul]

"Sulking is all the rage though," India joked. She looked at Jared's hoodie, liking how brightly colored it was. It was always one of her favorites, even if she never told him that. She liked things that were eccentric; it described her, actually. She looked down at her own hoodie; neon green with random designs in other colors on it. She liked it alright, but still liked Jared's better. She looked over at Jared again once he began talking, debating on whether or not to push him further to get it out of him. It wouldn't work; most likely she'd end up bugging him, she was good at that. Still, she took the chance. "You may not like me a lot, but Derry and I are quite close. If this somehow concerns him, then I want to know," she said simply, taking another bite from the sandwich. Despite what she'd caught Derry doing, she still cared about him a lot. It was the only reason she'd gotten him out of there, even though she was tempted to just leave him behind. "Raves are always fun, and being a groupie is even better," she joked. She hated groupies, but she joked around nonetheless. No reason to go all 'omgzzz I hate you' over a joke, right? She wasn't that uptight. "If I were you, though, I'd watch my back; you're quite a lovely girl, especially to those drunk fellows," she joked.

Jared said with a smile. "Secondly... I don't think it's my place to tell you what's going on. It doesn't really involve me any more because I'm not there," Jared said, in a guilty tone. He should be there - a lot of nineteen year olds moved out of their houses, but not at fifteen, and they generally kept a relationship up between their parents. "Ths is between Pete and Ashlee," Jared said, looking up at India, knowing she'd probably figure it out now. So what? Jared had kept his promise - he hadn't told her anything. "At least I have a big strong, brawny man like you to protect me from the nasty boys," Jared said, he faked a high pitched voice and then followed it with a school-girl giggle, fluttering his eyelashes at India in an attempt to sidetrack her from what they'd previously been speaking about. "Seriously though, do you want the backstage passes? My band are playing, so it's whatever floats your lonely little boat," Jared told her. "I could give you some for your friends as well... that is, if you had any to begin with," Jared teased with a smile. He took another bite out of his sandwich, chewed it and swallowed it before he continued. "Well, what do you say, Barbie?" Jared said.[/blockquote][/ul]

"That's always good to know," India stated after what he said about not disliking her. She just thought Jared was that annoying brother who you fought with but liked anyway. It was odd, the relationship they had, but India never tried to change it. "Oh." she said. She knew, more or less, what Jared meant; Ashlee and Pete were splitting, and Derry didn't know. She knew if he did, he'd be in a very, very bad state, and when she saw him last he was decent, so she supposed he hadn't heard the news. She bit down her lip slightly, staring at hte table. She knew this day would come, the evidence was always laid out like a deck of cards; India just didn't know how Derry was too blind to see it. "I won't tell him," she said simply. She knew since Jared was being so vague it probably meant that he hadn't told Derry yet, nor had Ashlee or Pete, so she knew it shouldn't be her to tell him. Still, no matter what goes on in the house, your own kids deserved to know when you were splitting with a spouse.
India smirked. "That's right, if it wasn't for these muscles, your ass would be getting kicked every night," she teased, deepening her voice and sticking her arms outward, flexing them. She didn't really have any muscle, so the display was rather pitiful. She dropped her arms to her sides and spoke again. "Couldn't hurt, right, Ken?" she said with a shrug. She never really passed up an offer to go to a rave or something, unless she had something important to do, but even then she usually procrastinated and went anyway. She picked up the sub and took another bite, chewed, and swallowed. She took a drink of the coke - not even bothered by the fact that Jared had drank out of it - and set it down again. She was beginning to grow worried about Derry, though, but she was trying to hide it. She'd already caught him with three girls, and smoking pot, so that would all just intensify once he got the news. And everyone knew he would, eventually, one way or another. Either Ashlee or Pete would tell him, or he'd figure it all out once the tabloids started covering it. India just hoped it didn't come down to the latter, though.

Jared said, when India said she wouldn't tell Derry. "It's gonna destroy him," Jared said, picking the coke up again after her and taking a sip. "That is, if he doesn't destroy himself first," Jared mused, mostly to himself though. Both Jared and India knew perfectly well what went on with Deryck, more so than they wanted to know probably. Jared kind of wished he was ignorant to all the shit his brother brought to himself - and to Jared and his friends - but, of course, ignorance, where it was bliss, was still ignorant and stupid in itself. Jared couldn't stand back and pretend that Deryck was a good little boy and that he was going to live to a ripe old age. Jared did drink himself, and yes, he did dabble in drugs sometimes, but that was nothing compared to what his younger brother was doing to himself. Jared often pondered why his brother did it, why he did it to himself and why he did it to the people around him. It was some sort of defense mechanism, Jared figured, a way of keeping people at arm's length rather than letting them in. "Every family has their problems, don't they?" Jared said, with a sigh. "If only Derry could wake up to what he's doing to the people around him... to people like you and me," Jared said thoughtfully. "It's attention seeking and then again, it isn't. Perhaps it's some way of making up for the kind of family he never had, but you don't see me doing half the shit he's doing," Jared added, eating another olive. "Maybe it's my fault, maybe I just wasn't around enough for him when this all started happening," Jared mused, eating another olive and picking up the coke again, taking another sip from it. "Did I do something wrong?" Jared asked, suddenly very aware he was talking outside, and very aware that he could be onto something. "Was shit big brother?" Jared asked. India wished that one day, Deryck and Jared could wake up to a perfectly normal life; no drugs, no alcohol, and no tension to deal with. Jared didn't really need to deal with what went around the house, because he didn't live there. But Deryck still technically did, and the tension between Ashlee and Pete was thick enough to cut with a knife. In India's opinion, it was better to just get a divorice then to stay together 'for the sake of the kid', because more often then not, it didn't work out. It was obviously destroying Deryck already, whether he knew the motivation behind his actions or not. India looked at Jared when he started asking if it was his fault, and she let out a small exhale. Not out of annoyance or anything, but just because she really didn't know what to tell him. "No, Jared," she said, shaking her head. "You were there, and you still are. Deryck relies on you, and you're doing all you can right now," she said softly. They were both doing all they could; they were letting Deryck in their homes despite the state he was in, be it high or drunk. She didn't like dealing with it, but she did it just because she was Deryck's friend. She felt underappreciated, sure, but that wasn't enough for her to just kick him out completely. She didn't agree with what he did - she drank, but not as much as he did, and she didn't do drugs or have casual sex - but she dealt with it, for some reason.
